Assistant Venue Manager – Events & Venue Execution

Mary Mae’s is seeking an experienced hospitality leader to take ownership of event execution across our waterfront venue.

This is not a first-time management role.

We are looking for someone who has already led weddings and large-format events (100+ guests) and understands what it takes to deliver high standards consistently from briefing to final pack-down.

Mary Mae’s balances strong daytime trade with premium weekend weddings, family celebrations and corporate functions. We are known for our waterfront views, strong coffee culture, craft beers and cocktail offering and we expect leadership that matches that standard.


The Role

This position focuses on horizontal venue execution overseeing the delivery of all events and peak trade periods across the floor.

You will:

  • · Lead functions, inbound and group bookings end-to-end
  • · Manage teams of 2–12 staff per event (up to 15+ during peak weekends)
  • · Act as the senior on-floor leader during service
  • · Be the primary operational contact for clients on event days
  • · Ensure operational readiness and team alignment prior to service
  • · Support venue wide execution across weekends and public holidays
  • · Report to Venue Manager and work closely with Salex Event Manager to maintain standards across all service areas
  • This is a hands-on leadership role, not an office-based position.


About You

You:

  • · Have minimum 3 years in a Venue Manager, Assistant Venue Manager or Events Manager role
  • · Have demonstrable experience leading weddings and events of 100+ guests
  • · Are confident managing high-volume service environments
  • · Solid hospitality operations background from coffee to cocktails.
  • · Lead with structure and calm not ego
  • · Are highly reliable and available across weekends and public holidays
  • · Take accountability for standards, team performance and guest experience
